  • Are your package prices inclusive of GST and Installation?

    Yes, indeed they are.

  • How long does an Alarm take to install?

It takes around 4-6 hours to install a standard alarm (like one of our packages). In terms of booking the job in and getting it done, we can usually get it done within a 1 week timeframe. For busy seasons like before Christmas, we recommend you booking in early.

  • What warranties do you have on your products?

All Bosch alarms come with a 5 year parts warranty and 12 months labour.

All CCTV systems we use come with a 12 month warranty for parts & labour.

  • What does my alarm do when it is triggered?

Once your alarm is triggered it will make a deafening sound for around 10 minutes.

If you have a phone line, and we’ve connected the alarm up to the phone line, the technician can program it so that it rings up to 3 numbers. When one of those 3 numbers picks up the call, it will make a siren noise to let you know that an alarm has been triggered.

We can also hook your alarm up to a back to base monitoring centre. This centre will be notified once your alarm goes off and a person will look after your alert. They will call you to let you know and if required, send a car out there to check up on the property.

  • When do I need to replace my alarm backup battery?

An alarm backup battery lasts around 5 years. Most alarms will notify you when the battery needs replacement by a beeping noise.

We do alarm battery replacements for a flat fee of 250. Just give us a call and we can book you in.

  • What is A Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR)?

A PIR-based motion detector is used by most alarm systems to sense movement of people, animals, or other objects. They are commonly used in burglar alarms and automatically-activated lighting systems.

  • How many Alarm zones do I need?

Each zone in alarm terminology is essentially a slot available for a sensor. If you have an 8 zone alarm system, then you can have up to 8 sensors. A 16 zone alarm system has 16 zones.

A sensor for an alarm system is generally a PIR, a reed switch or a smoke alarm.

Our home alarm systems give you the option to program zones so that sensors assigned to them cause the system to respond differently when they are triggered. All the alarms we offer can handle “Stay at home” mode and “Away mode”. This allows you to have certain areas of the home armed while you are at home. The technician will organise this for you on the day of the install.

  • What are the difference between a wireless and Wired alarm system?

In a wired system, the sensors communicate with the panel via wires.

In a wireless system, the sensors communicate with the control panel wirelessly. The Bosch sensors that we use have a range of up to 100m. They rely on battery to power the device and can last up to 5 years before the need to replace the battery on each sensor.

  • How do you work with New Homes?

In 80% of the cases we do the install for new homes once the handover is complete. We have had no problems with this.

The exception is when you have:
    > a multi storey and want a comprehensive alarm system
    OR
    > have a house with no roof space (which means we can’t do any wiring)

If you’re in any of the above two scenarios, we are able to wire up the home before the plaster / ceiling goes and complete the system on handover.
